Introduction to Containers

In this lecture we will introduce virtualization containers, that can be used to deploy applications and even whole computing environments to any Linux running host machine. After an introduction to the topic we will go over the Apptainer/Singularity container approach we show how to run someone else's containers, for example from DockerHub. Then we build our own container using Apptainer. We'll wrap up with some more advanced container setup and ideas for how to deploy your own applications as a container.
