CHPC OUTAGE: Redwood cluster nodes - critical security update - Monday Aug 9, 2021 Noon
Date Posted: August 3rd, 2021
As announced last week, there is a critical security update for all Linux machines
that will require a reboot. On Monday August 9, 2021, starting at Noon, we will apply
the necessary updates to the protected environment cluster nodes (redwood). As this
is a security concern, we are not providing our standard two week notice for the downtime.
CHPC staff will be applying the update to all nodes, both interactive and compute,
on the redwood cluster. We anticipate that the cluster will be available for use late afternoon.
There is a reservation in place to drain the redwood slurm batch queue of running
jobs by the start of the downtime. Any job that will not be able to complete before
the start of the downtime will wait in the queue until after the work is completed.
